The Signing in Book Again!

Well, today, I was going to start with how nice it is to get to work quickly and without any hassle, but I won't!

Today, I am really boiling! I was speaking to a colleague of mine and I asked her about whether she was signing in the book when she was leaving early or coming in late, which due to family commitments, she has been doing for the last few weeks. When you come in late or leave early, you have to get the permission from my manager for this. Of course, when I ask for permission, I am told to sign the book to reflect this. But, my colleague has not been told to do this. So I guess that company policy has now changed for me. I have the proof in an email from my boss. I am really unhappy about this! How can there be one rule for me and another rule for someone else? So who do I complain to? My boss? The one who is imposing all these restrictions on me? If I complain to anyone, then I will be looked upon as the person that complains about everything!

Have a look at my post "New Job?".

Don't get me wrong, my company is quite flexible in accommodating the odd time you have to come in late, but I always make sure that I work my time in whether it be during lunch or after normal working hours. I am, after all a working mother, and I think the government would by law be happy with companies that have this policy, rather than having mothers stay at home and leech of the system because companies cannot accommodate them for being mothers.

Yesterday started really well. I had this really tasty canned soup, Baxter's to be exact. My other half refuses to buy any other canned soup, and I'm sure he would have it everyday if it was served to him on a platter! Everyone in the team were having a really jovial discussion when my senior colleague interjected and sternly asked me if I was doing my work? What? I am not the one that will cause the company to get fined by the FSA for not following procedure! I'm not the one that goes out for 2 hour lunches and comes back drunk! I'm not the one that sits the whole day sorting out family matters on company time.

But, I am not a man and I obviously don't drink or socialise with the right people! I suppose it's who you know, not what you know!
